Pablo Sirvent

Founder of PureByte. Building tiny byte-level language models and native C++ CPU inference engines.

Experience

2026 -
PureByte
I founded PureByte. We build tiny byte-level language models (1-29 MiB) and a standalone C++17 runtime that runs offline on ordinary CPUs, about a millisecond per small decision, without GPUs.

The models read raw bytes without tokenizers, use a Mamba-2 state-space backbone, and train with 1.58-bit ternary weights. The released credential model has 1.9M parameters and fits in under 1 MB. The C++ runtime has zero external dependencies, uses SIMD kernels (AVX2, ARM NEON) plus a portable scalar kernel, gives bit-identical results across kernels and thread counts, and reproduces the spans of the PyTorch models.

2023 -
Indra Group
Senior Software Engineer (Senior Specialist) at Indra Group. I build backend microservices (Java 21, Kotlin, Quarkus, Kafka, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes) for high-criticality systems in defense and government programmes, focusing on scalability and critical systems architecture.

Focused on high throughput, zero-trust security layers, and event-driven architectures under strict reliability requirements.

2022 - 2023
Embention
Senior Software Engineer at Embention, working with the Tech Lead and CTO on backend systems for Veronte UAV autopilots (customers in 70+ countries; now used by Amazon Prime Air).

Rebuilt the ECU firmware flashing backend in Java, cutting flash time by 40% and stabilising firmware updates in the field. Built Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) simulation backends in Java with C++ device interfaces, reducing aircraft-model simulation runtime by 60% and RS-232 processing time by 50%.
2021
Orizon
Software Engineer at Orizon. Analysed and optimised the performance of core banking applications for Spain's largest banks, focused on mainframe workloads, where CPU consumption drives licensing cost and batch windows.
2021
Afterbanks Arcopay
Software Engineer at Afterbanks Arcopay (now part of Minsait Payments). Built PSD2 open banking aggregation services in Java, Spring, and MySQL. Integrated 7+ European banking APIs, tuned concurrent scraping workers for a 20% throughput improvement, and fed solvency checks for lenders like Cetelem.
2017 - 2021
GESIO
Software Engineer at GESIO. Led the 3-person eCommerce backend team (50+ customers, 1,000+ concurrent users) of an online ERP and POS SaaS with 3,000+ installations. Built Java/Spring services, integrated customer systems (SAP, Salesforce, Dynamics, Shopify), and wrote serial/TCP middleware for POS peripheral hardware.

  • 0.82 ms per 64-byte decision on 8 threads of a 12-core desktop CPU (3-6 ms on one core; 133x less time than Laya on the same CPU).
  • 3.5x the labeled credential lines found by gitleaks' default rules on CredData (164 of its 168 test repositories; 3.1x on all 168), at a close precision.
  • F2 0.769 on the PII Masking Benchmark (8.3M model), outperforming OpenAI's Privacy Filter (1.4B parameters).
  • Trained from scratch in 25-60 min on a single consumer GPU using automated verification loops.
